Sacred Clay & Liturgical Objects
Clay is perhaps the most ancient of all creative materials — the substance from which, in many traditions, the first humans were formed. To work with clay is to participate in the act of creation itself, shaping formless earth into vessels of beauty and purpose. In our ceramics retreats, participants work with master potters to create liturgical objects — lamps, offering vessels, incense holders, and sacred containers. The wheel becomes a mandala, the kiln a transformative fire, and the finished piece a meditation made permanent. The meditative quality of pottery — the centering of the clay, the steady rhythm of the wheel, the focused attention of the hands — makes it an ideal practice for those seeking presence through creative engagement.
