Wood Working

Devotional Altars & Sacred Carving

Every spiritual tradition recognises the importance of a dedicated space for practice — a personal altar, a shrine, a place where the sacred is invited into daily life. In our wood working retreats, participants learn to create their own devotional objects and home altars using traditional carving and joinery techniques. Working with wood is an exercise in patience and presence. Each cut reveals the grain, each plane exposes the hidden beauty within. The craftsperson must listen to the material, working with its nature rather than against it — a practice that mirrors the spiritual path itself. From selecting the timber to applying the final finish, every step is performed with intention and awareness, transforming raw material into an object that will anchor one's spiritual practice for years to come.
